Established in 1976, The Mid-Norfolk Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers has been  in existence for a very long time!  We are therefore a very well established guild, ready to pass on our skills to others, within a friendly, open and welcoming ethos. Our meetings are held in North Tuddenham Village Hall near Dereham. We hold monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month and the fourth Saturday. We welcome visitors and/or potential new members to any of our meetings and details of those can be found on our events page.

At our meetings, we like to spin or weave together, with guided skill shares when we learn from each other as we work. We also have occasional speakers when members display an interest in a specific subject. For example, talks and demonstrations and practical sessions have included for example, growing woad for indigo extraction on a commercial basis, rag rug making, stories linked to textiles – from a story teller based originally at the Eden project, the history of the sheep farming in Norfolk, through the life of the Paston family, long draw spinning techniques and much more. Sometimes we run ‘in house’ workshop sessions, for example, weaving focus day which included learning a variety of weaving techniques from each other.

So whether you are an experienced spinner, weaver or dyer, or just learning, you are welcome to come along. Our members are of all ages and with all levels of expertise. We have a range of equipment that can be borrowed or bought, and access to a range of fleeces of all types. There’s always someone to learn from, and in your turn, to help along. We’re a wonderfully sociable group of people from all walks of life and have fun together. So come along and meet us!
